Besides her profession as a dancer/performer Neel makes paintings
and wilful sculptures, since 1990. Her work shows vulnerability as well
as strength. In her paintings (usually made with chalk and ink) the eyes
are the most striking. They look straight into the world and compel the beholder to awareness. The truthfulness in expression and the simplicity
of form give her work a transparant quality. She named her sculptures
the 'steltenfamilie', because they all stand on very thin high legs. Animal
and human being blend together.
Neel makes them of natural materials like: wood, leather, wool, iron and shells. In her art Neel makes the abundance of life apparent and at the
other hand the tangiable shortage of human contact. In her art Neel is
able to express her inside, which she is unable to express with other
human beings in normal life. In her art dance, image and sound flow
seamless in and out eachother.
